CREATIVITY

Everyone has their own definition of 'creativity'. At All Design we think it is futile to define the infinite. Creativity is so dependent on context that it will look completely different in action to scientists, artists, managers, students, military personnel, musicians, architects, artists, accountants or train drivers.

There may not even be an easily agreed upon definition of creativity within design as design covers so many distinct disciplines, so below is a growing collection of alternative words, examples, talks and books for our consideration!

If you have an alternative view then send us your favourite examples of creative work@ All Design Team

  • The OECD have done some brilliant work and have published guidelines for the assessment of creativity in young people across all disciplines in contrasting cultures- which can be found here: the PISA Creative Thinking Framework.
  • Unfortunately the UK does not yet subscribe to these tests so creativity is not something that can be used to compare our education system to other countries. Which we feel is an oversight. Discuss... (even better - do something about it in your classes and nationally)
